A visit to the Loafing Shed

I spent some time yesterday afternoon at the Loafing Shed Glass Studio and Gallery. Talk about being blown away—by all the gorgeous glassware and a glass blowing demo too. Robert Gary Parkes (the master glass blower) and his wife Jeanette host these craft days regularly in the shop on their Surrey property and yesterday I took advantage.

I watched Robert shape a beautiful square vessel from this blob.

Then I browsed through the glassware gallery and finally decided on a couple of balls for Christmas—one for my own tree and another for my gift box.

Yesterday there were other crafters at the Loafing Shed too. I was won over by the color and fragrance of these artisan soaps. They’re for my gift box too, if I can keep them wrapped and off my own soap holder!

There’s lots more to see on the interesting website (RobertGaryParkes.ca).

The Upcoming Events page lists the dates of their upcoming open house days. In fact, the gallery is open today from 10 a.m. − 4 p.m. If you’re in the area, pay them a visit, for sure before Christmas!
