A plant that’s in bloom just now and spreading a heady perfume over part of our daily walk is the Evergreen Hawthorn. It grows on each side of a footbridge we cross. But one doesn’t don’t get too cozy with it! This plant has vicious thorns, stiff and at least an inch long. It seems an appropriate plant to be in bloom at Easter time, reminding us of  the fragrant One, who wore a crown of thorns and died for us so we could be counted righteous in God’s eyes.
