“Peonies and One Hundred Butterflies” Screen

Last spring my husband and I spent a few days in Vancouver, vacationing in our home city. During that time we visited the Dr. Sun Yat-Sen Garden in Vancouver’s Chinatown. There we saw many beautiful artifacts of gracious Chinese living from past times. This silk screen—”Peonies and One Hundred Butterflies”— was one of the most gorgeous. Hand-embroidered silk on silk, it is beautiful viewed from either side.
