Beautiful irises of various colors are out. These have opened up along our walking path in the last few days.

Iris Facts:

The name “Iris” originates with the Greek goddess Iris—the personification of the rainbow because irises come in many colours.

During the Middle Ages the iris was linked to the French Monarchy. The French Fleur-de-lis is the iris in stylized form.

This iris is the flower associated with the twenty fifth wedding anniversary.

In the Victorian language of flowers, the iris signifies a “message.”

It symbolizes intelligence, competence, and independence.

The Blue iris = Faith and Hope.

The Purple iris = Wisdom, Compliments.

The Yellow iris = Passion.

The White iris = Purity.
